Managing Director

Kris is a leading authority on the R&D tax concession in Australia and has been working with this program since he joined MJA in 1987 as a consultant.

He has experienced all dimensions of the program from day-to-day consulting with companies in the mining, software, biotechnology, food and heavy engineering sectors, through to helping companies on audit and dealing with government policy makers and appearing before Senate committees as an expert in this field.

Relationships

In addition to our relationships with clients at tax manager, executive and board levels, MJA invests heavily in maintaining ongoing contact with policy makers and administrators. This means we’re regularly in touch with the ATO, AusIndustry and Innovation Australia to ensure that we are always fully up to date on administrative practice in the area and to provide feedback on the current operation of the R&D Tax Concession and grants programs.

As the Managing Director of the firm, Kris leads this process and is a regular participant in the Administrative Consultative Group, and an author of submissions to government reviews and is an active member and trustee of CEDA.

Kris is also sought out as a speaker in this area and has presented to national conferences for both R&D and tax, and also has articles printed in the press and appears on radio. Some relevant content from Kris includes:

Kris holds degrees in Economics (with Honours) and Law from the University of Sydney.

Beyond Work

In addition to his professional experience, Kris is a committed consumer of pop culture, a lifelong fan of the Wests Tigers, an active basketball player, sometime DJ, and holds board and advisory positions with companies in the recording, live music and retail sectors.
